My favorite . . .?
I had the opportunity over the last few days to work 2 different funerals. It may sound morbid, but singing a funeral is one of my favorite things I do with my voice. Being able to serve a family in pain on one of the worst days of their lives is a tremendous gift, and one I never take for granted. As well, regular exposure to grieving families reminds me that life is fleeting and we're asked to live fully in the present moment. None of us can know what will happen next, so digging into the here and now - living each moment as it comes - is our work. It's really the only choice...though, often, I struggle with rumination of the past or wallowing in expectations or anxiety about the future. O how much life I've missed because of the inability to breathe into the here and now! May we all find joy in each and every moment of this beautiful Tuesday, breathing and taking life as it comes- right here, right now - with gratitude and joy.
