So you got the role! ...NOW WHAT? When preparing a role, it's important to think systematically. You wouldn't want to build your house roof first, right? So deep breath and the use the following step by step snow ball:

1. Learn solos/arias (as much in advance as you can!)- if you're in an opera, include recitative here as well. For musical Theater, start practicing your lines...word to the wise, you can't possibly practice recit/lines enough so get going! )

2. Keep practicing number 1, but now learn duets/trios or other small ensemble pieces.

3. Practice 1 and 2, learn chorus numbers.

4. Completely ROCK the role
