Progress
So Chris and I are doing a LOT of work to our yard. We've been collecting bricks for a new patio for months, put up a new fence, new gutters, new windows etc. The point is, we've been in a construction zone for most of this year. We put up a great deal of our fence last weekend and it all started coming together. As one who likes things neat, clean and organized, my soul sighed in relief. HOWEVER, we hadn't yet begun our patio and those 3600 bricks were sitting in piles in my yard screaming for attention. So, this weekend we started digging. I knew we had to dig a giant hole in my beautiful back yard, in order to place those bricks, but I didn't KNOW, ya know?
I'm reminded that when it comes to progress, things often get worse before they get better. In this case (due to rain) a lot worse. Muddy, messy, gross and giant hole worse. How many times in my singing have I felt like I had finally "gotten it", only to realize there was a giant pile of "3600 bricks" I hadn't dealt with yet? On this rainy Monday, I invite us all to "dig in" and embrace the mess. After all, growth isn't organized - and the only way to get your gorgeous brick patio is to dig a big muddy hole. #keepgrowing #keepgoing
